Wait, that was Taylor Swift?!
That’s the question many Swifties are asking themselves after watching her jaw-dropping new music video for feminist anthem “The Man,” in which she sports heavy prosthetics and a beard to play a pompous, high-achieving businessman.
Throughout the four-minute clip, Swift imagines all the things she could do as a man with no consequences or judgement: partying with models on a yacht, “manspreading” on the subway, marrying a much-younger woman, and urinating on a wall out in public with a “no scooters” sign (a nod to her feud with music executive Scooter Bruan, as eagle-eyed fans pointed out).
In a meta twist at the end of the video, bearded Swift walks over to blonde-haired Swift in a director’s chair, who gives some sarcastically sexist direction for the next take: “Can you try to be sexier? Maybe more likable this time?”
