VANCOUVER, Wash. – Two Vancouver 17-year-old boys are facing first-degree robbery and second-degree attempted murder charges after investigators say they broke into a man’s home, stabbed him several times, and stole his phone, wallet, and car.

Doctors said the 66-year-old victim was lucky to still be alive after his attackers stabbed him in his neck and chest cavity and broke several ribs and bones in his face. One of the stab wounds severed his carotid artery.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 17-year-old Alexander J. Rivers and 17-year-old Aiden M. Swegles, along with two girls, one of which is the victim’s granddaughter, broke into a home Monday evening at 2524 NE 83rd Way.
