CLINTON, SC (FOX Carolina) – A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to cover funeral expenses for a 7-year-old Clinton girl who passed away unexpectedly while having her tonsils removed.
Paisley Elizabeth Grace Cogsdill passed away on Feb. 21 at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood. Paisley’s parents said she went into surgery, and one minute later, her heart stopped.
“You don’t understand why these things happen but we know it was God’s plan and that’s the only thing that can get us through, cause we know it was God,” Paisley’s grandmother, Mary Beth Truelock, said.
An officer was killed in an officer-involved shooting at the Florence Airport, according to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken. An official with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says the suspect initially fled the scene, but was later apprehended by Florence County Deputies.
Dozens of police officers and deputies were still on the scene near the Florence Regional Airport Sunday morning, according to Tommy Crosby, with South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is investigating the death of a 9-year-old girl and her father following a hunting accident on New Year’s Day.
According to DNR, four hunters were attempting to move deer, also known as driving deer, on Barracada Road in Walterboro when two hunters were shot after being mistaken for a deer.
The two hunters died from injuries sustained in that shooting.
Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey later identified the victims as 9-year-old Lauren Drawdy and 30-year-old Kim Drawdy.
A train smashed into a semi truck in South Carolina, and nearby drivers captured the moment it happened.
The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. Monday on railroad tracks off Highway 52 in St. Stephen, according to a release from Berkeley County.
Video taken by witness John Waters Jr. and posted on Facebook by WCSC shows the semi truck, which appeared to be stuck, stopped on the tracks as the train approaches.
WILLISTON, S.C. — A family in South Carolina is devastated after losing their nine-year-old son on Thanksgiving day, WRDW reports.
They say Colton Williams was accidentally shot and killed by his dad while they were hunting rabbits. “This is hard. we are thankful to God for the 9 years we had with him, though. he was the brightest light in our lives,” his grandfather said.
According to officials, the boys were playing with the gun in the living room and it went off while the friend was holding it, killing Dylan.
LANCASTER, S.C. – A 10-year-old boy who was found dead earlier this month was shot by his friend while the two boys were playing, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called around 4 p.m. on Nov. 15 to a mobile home park on Coastal Way off Memorial Park Road.
When they got there, they found Dylan Twitty lying on the ground surrounded by people trying to help him.
Deputies said Dylan was at his friend’s house playing after school when his 10-year-old friend went into a family member’s bedroom and grabbed a 9 mm pistol from under the mattress.
