WAUKEGAN, Ill. — The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office found no wrongdoing by Waukegan police in the “in-custody” death of a man last summer.
Lake County State’s Attorney Michael Nerheim considers the case closed after sending a letter to Waukegan Police Chief Wayne Walles.
The man, 31-year-old Avion Cotton, passed away after he was arrested in the 600 block of King Avenue on June 27, 2019.
In the letter, Nerheim said Cotton swallowed 38 grams of cocaine laced with fentanyl.
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A gunman has taken at least one hostage inside the Heritage Credit Union location at E. State Street and Mulford Road.
Rockford Police Chief Dan O’Shea says police were called at 2:30 p.m. about a male suspect inside the bank, located at 5959 E State Street, with a gun and demanded everyone leave.
O’Shea said there is at least one person, possibly more, still inside the bank and the police department’s crisis negotiation team is attempting to make contact with the suspect.
A Chicago woman is accused of killing two children Thursday after jumping out of an 11th-flloor window of an apartment building with one child–her 1-year-old son–and leaving another child, who was 2, unresponsive in a bathtub.
Chicago police say the woman jumped out the window after stabbing her 70-year-old father several times.
The Chicago Police Department was dispatched to an apartment complex around 1:50 a.m. where they found the woman, believed to be in her 30s, lying on the ground with a 1-year-old, FOX32 reported, citing law enforcement.
Thirteen people were wounded when a shooter opened fire inside a large memorial gathering early Sunday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.
About 12:40 a.m., a house party was going on in the 5700 block of South May Street. Someone inside started shooting and struck 13 people, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.
The party was in honor of the birthday of Lonell Irvin, the 22-year-old man fatally shot during an attempted carjacking April in the Loop, according to multiple people at the scene.
NEW ORLEANS — Eleven people have been shot after gunfire erupted on Canal Street early Sunday morning.
According to NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson, the shooting occurred around 3:25 a.m. in the 700 block of Canal Street, between Bourbon and Royal Streets.
NOPD and State Police had an increased presence in the French Quarter at the time for Bayou Classic weekend.
A woman was recently sexually assaulted in an alley in River North while two security guards for a popular bar stand nearby and do nothing to stop it.
That video was part of a lawsuit filed Monday by the woman against the River North restaurant.
