One of the most famous statues in the world is the Statue of Liberty in New York. It stands 151-feet tall and is not nearly one of the tallest statues in the world. Recognition-wise, the Statue of Liberty would rank first, but this list is about the tallest statues, and Lady Liberty is 115 feet too short to make the cut. If you want to own an Irish island complete with a mini-version of one of Skellig Michael’s beehive huts, now’s your chance. High Island, known as Ardoileán, is a deserted island located approximately 3.5km off the west coast of Connemara in Galway , and it’s for sale for €1.25m ($1.41m).
It might look like fairytale accommodation from afar, but look closer and you’ll find that this village of identical chateaux in the hilltops of northwest Turkey is an abandoned ghost town. Intended as a residential resort for wealthy tourists, the lofty project has yet to be realised.
