President Trump is drumming up support in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a rally Thursday night, plowing through his four-day West Coast swing. Heon Wednesday during the Democratic debate, and he’ll hold a third rally in Las Vegas on Friday.The president’s trip, part fundraising, part official events and part campaigning, comes days ahead of major primary contests. The Nevada GOP canceled its caucus contest this year, as did Arizona. California and Colorado will vote on Super Tuesday.
A pregnant Colorado mom fatally shot her toddler son before turning the weapon on herself in Rocky Mountain National Park, according to a new report.
The bodies of Tristen Watson, 24, of Colorado Springs, and her 17-month-old son Christopher, were discovered in the Friday afternoon as rangers searched for a reportedly suicidal person, The Coloradoan reported.
Both bodies were turned over to the Larimer County Coroner’s office, which determined in a Monday autopsy that Christopher had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
CORTEZ, Colo. — Drive down Highway 491 in Cortez, and it’s tough to miss the Antique Corral. The shop is a bit of an antique itself, a popular store attracting tourists and others for several decades.
However, the store’s shelves are also stocked with some controversy.
“I was angry, confused, shocked and absolutely just dumbfounded,” said Nicola Shanks.
Shanks was shopping at the store several months ago when she says she stumbled upon several signs she believes were racist in nature, with messages that included “Public Swimming Pool – Whites Only” and “Colored Seating in Rear.”
DENVER (CBS4) – Police are searching for the driver of an SUV after video showed the vehicle running over a woman’s head on Dec. 22. The driver was fleeing the scene of an altercation, where witnesses say he threw a beer bottle at the head of another woman, causing her to bleed.
Clarissa Nguyen told CBS4’s Dillon Thomas the driver of the silver SUV was catcalling her outside of Larimer Beer Hall off of Larimer and 20th in downtown Denver. She said she ignored his advances, and suddenly was hit in the head with a glass bottle.
The video shows the vehicle bouncing as it runs over her upper torso and head. The car continues on, leaving Montoya laying in the street with six broken bones. Her injuries include broken bones in her face and torso, as well as severe road rash.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Witnesses say a robber was doing everything he could to get caught after holding up a downtown Springs bank in the middle of lunchtime.
“He robbed the bank, came out, threw the money all over the place,'” said Dion Pascale, who told 11 News he watched the whole thing unfold.
He started throwing money out of the bag and then said, ‘Merry Christmas!'”
Pascale said the suspect sauntered down to the Starbucks next door and “sat down and waited for the cops. It was almost like he wanted it to happen [an arrest].”
A black mother says her 11-year-old daughter was not allowed to compete with her Colorado cheerleading squad because the coach refused to let her perform with her. But the cheer coach said the girl was dismissed because her mom threatened the team.
Tiyana Young said Diamond Elite All-Star Cheerleading coach and owner Stephanie Trujillo asked her daughter, Niemah, to wear a ponytail hair piece to match her teammates, who are mostly white and Latina, CBS News correspondent Vladimir Duthiers reports. She said styling Niemah’s naturally curly hair for cheerleading can be painful for her daughter.
