Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson has died at 61, according to an official statement from her management’s website.

The statement says the Swedish star died Monday after a 17-year battle with cancer.

Following a solo career, Fredriksson teamed up with Per Gessle in 1986 to form the pop duo Roxette, which launched them into the international spotlight.

The pair is best known for the songs “It Must Have Been Love” from 1986, “Listen to Your Heart” from 1988 and “The Look” from 1988.
