PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (ABC7) — Police have arrested and charged a Bowie man, 23-year-old Sammie Warren, for allegedly firing multiple shots through a window and killing a grandmother in her own kitchen on New Year’s Day.
Filomena Vasquez, 56, was shot to death at about 11:30 p.m., January 1, in her home on Varnum Street in Landover Hills while she was making tea, police say.
Vasquez’s 21-year-old son sold a car to the suspect on Christmas Eve, Chief Hank Stawinski announced during a Monday afternoon press conference. He was apparently unhappy with the purchase, and returned to the home in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, firing shots into the front of the house.
