‘Highly intoxicated’ young woman leads police on high speed chase over 100 MPH in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A woman is charged after the Ohio State Highway Patrol said she led troopers on a chase from Dayton to Columbus on Wednesday morning.

OSHP said a trooper in Dayton tried to stop 23-year-old Ciera Smith for speeding on I-70 just before 1:30 a.m. but she refused to stop.

According to court records, the chase “was in excess of 100 MPH.”

Madison County troopers were notified and they put down some stop sticks, which Smith hit but she still did not stop, OSHP said.

OSHP said Smith was slowed after hitting the stop sticks and troopers were able to use a pit maneuver to stop her on I-70 eastbound near Wilson Road.
