TEMPLE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — It’s been more than a week since a 28-year-old was fatally shot in the head by a police officer in Texas and and authorities haven’t released any details about the deadly incident.
Michael Dean was killed on December 2 in Temple, located about 130 miles south of Dallas.
Temple police identified Dean as the victim the day after the shooting and on Tuesday identified the officer as Carmen DeCruz. Police said DeCruz wasn’t injured and per standard practice was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation of the shooting.
Temple police have not said what led DeCruz to shoot and kill Dean.
“They should have had a definite explanation for us and not a bunch of ‘I don’t knows,'” Dean said. “I just want to know what happened to my son that caused him not to be with us anymore.”
“My son was not a criminal. He loved everybody and everything and he loved life,” Dean said Friday.
